Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: What file format and specifications should I send for mastering?
A: For the best mastering results, please provide your final mixdown as a WAV or AIFF file, at 24-bit or higher resolution (e.g., 32-bit float). The sample rate should ideally be the same as your project’s (e.g., 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 96kHz).
– Crucially, ensure there are no dynamic processing plugins (like compressors, limiters, or maximizers) on your master bus. We need your mix to have its full dynamic range intact.
– Your mixdown should have a peak level of around -6dBFS (the loudest point of your mixdown should not exceed this level). This gives us ample headroom to work with during the mastering process.
– Please use short, clear filenames to prevent confusion (for example: ArtistName – TrackTitle (final mix).wav).
– Always double-check your mixdown carefully before sending it to ensure there are no unintended clicks, pops, or errors.
– If you are providing a radio edit, it is essential that it is the exact same mixdown as the extended version to ensure sonic consistency.
– Any reference tracks or specific notes on your preferred sound are very welcome, as they help us understand your artistic vision.
Q: How long does mastering take?
A: Turnaround time for single tracks is typically 2-3 business days. For albums, it depends on the number of tracks, but we’ll provide an estimated timeline upfront.
Q: What if I need revisions?
A: We include two rounds of revisions with every mastering project to ensure you’re completely satisfied.
